Alexandre ALVES COSTA

Full Professor at FAUP and Visiting Professor at FCTUC. Addressing issues related to education, critic and history of architecture, has participated in several courses and seminars and has presented conferences both in Portugal and abroad. Has been widely published, particularly in scientific journals. Practicing architect since 1970, his work has been almost entirely published and has received several awards. Awarded the degree of Grand Officer of the Military Order of Sant’Iago da Espada.

Francisco BARATA

Francisco BARATA

Architect by ESBAP, PhD by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) where he teaches in MIARQ, CEAPA and PDA courses. Participates in initiatives and publications organized by several Architecture faculties both in Portugal and abroad. At FAUP, he coordinates the profile D of PDA and the research group "Heritage of Architecture, City and Territory" As practicing architect, he develops design projects of housing, public facilities, rehabilitation, urban design and planning.

Roberto COLLOVÀ

Roberto COLLOVÀ

Born in Corleone (1943), architect (1970) and professor of project (since 1984) at Palermo's Faculty of Architecture. Collaborates with Álvaro Siza in the project for the urban renewal, Parish Church (1982-84) and Cascio neighborhood (1990), in Salemi. First prize, ex-aequo, in the Diagonal competition, Barcelona, with J. Pierre Pranals (1989) and in the competition Una via e tre piazza, in Gela (1990). His project Case Di Stefano, Gibelina, was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award (1991).

Sérgio FERNANDEZ

Sérgio FERNANDEZ

Born in Porto, 1937. Architect by the Higher Institute of Fine Arts of Porto, 1965. Associate Professor of FAUP and of the School of Architecture of the University of Minho. Professor Emeritus of FAUP, 2009. He has taught and directed seminars in Holland, USSR, Angola, Brazil and Panama. Author of "Course- Portuguese Architecture 1930/1974" His articles and works have been widely published. He works in co-authorship with Alexandre Alves Costa. Their work has won multiple competitions and awards.

Pierre HEBBELINCK

Pierre HEBBELINCK

Architect by the Institut Lambert Lombard of Liège (1981), President of the Fondation d'Architecture et d'Urbanisme H.L.M.. His architectural work has been published in numerous architecture journals and has been exhibited in several venues, namely at the VI and VIII Venice Architecture Biennale (1996 and 2002). Develops his research with his in-office publisher – Editions Fourre-tout.

Juan Miguel HERNÁNDEZ LEÓN

Juan Miguel HERNÁNDEZ LEÓN

President of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. Architect (1974) and Ph.D. (1982) by the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, he is Professor of Composicion since 1987. He is the Director and founder of the Journal of Architecture and Criticism Pasaje (Prix Santiago Amon of architectural diffusion) and regular contributor to several journals in Architecture and Art. He is the scientific director of Architecture collections for the Editorial Akal and the Editorial ABADA.

Michèle JOLÉ

Michèle JOLÉ

Urban sociologist and ethnographer, is a researcher at the Laboratoire Architecture Ville Urbanisme Environnement - CNRS. She has been a lecturer and researcher at the Institut d’urbanisme de Paris (Université Paris12), where she has created and directed the course "Public Spaces". Her research is focused on urban public spaces, particularly based on a sensory and ethnographic analysis of uses and sociabilities in their relationship with spatial and material apparatus.

José Ignacio LINAZASORO

José Ignacio LINAZASORO

Architect and professor of Projects at the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid. He collaborates with numerous universities such as Venice, Princeton, Pamplona and the Central Polytechnic in London. His work is part of the recent history of Spanish architecture and his projects and interventions have received numerous accolades, awards and publications.

Marta OLIVEIRA

Marta OLIVEIRA

Architect by the School of Fine Arts of Porto; PhD in Architecture from the University of Porto (thesis «Portuguese architecture of the time of the Discoveries: record of practice and counsel circa 1500»). Teacher at FAUP, since 1984, and researcher, lecturing History of Portuguese Architecture (Master); Theory and History of Architectural Rehabilitation (Advanced Studies in Architectural Heritage) and Thesis Project (PhD in Architecture, with coordination of Profile B).

Nuno PORTAS

Nuno PORTAS

Professor Emeritus, U. Porto – Faculty of Architecture, where he has coordinated the Research Centre for Architecture and Urbanism and the Research Lab for the Territory of the U. Porto. Researcher at the National Lab for Civil Engineering (1963/80). Secretary of State of Housing and Planning (1974/75) and Town Councilor (1989/94) in Gaia. He has coordinated several urban projects of major importance both in Portugal and abroad. Sir Patrick Abercrombie Prize, UIA 2005

Carlos PRATA

Carlos PRATA

Born in Porto in 1950, where he has always lived and worked. Finishes Architecture degree at ESBAP (Higher Institute of Fine Arts of Porto) in 1975 (Final Exam in 1980). In 1977-79 works with Armenio Losa as collaborator. In 1979-85 works in partnership with Armenio Losa and Henrique de Carvalho. Since 1985 works independently in his own office. In 1987-2010 is an executive member of the National Board of Architects In 1980-90 is Assistant at ESBAP. Since 1999 is Professor Assistant at FAUP

Manuel Fernandes de SÁ

Manuel Fernandes de SÁ

Architect (ESBAP), T.C. Planner (University of Manchester) and Full Professor at FAUP. He has developed research work in the fields of medium scale planning, metropolitan analyses and diffused settlement models. As practicing architect, his work is focused on public space design, having developed several urban design, public facilities and housing projects. He works as a town and country planner, developing plans and providing technical advisory support to several Municipalities.

Philosopher, professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto (1982), Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies, Intention et Dissimulation dans la Philosophie Pratique de Kant, and PhD at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris (1998 - direction of Fernando Gil), Abîmes, Passages, Limites: Système et Pré-Système chez Kant. Directs the research group Phenomenology and Hermeneutics in Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, of the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Porto.
